- Dr Sanjeev Shanker is a general surgeon with a special interest in keyhole surgery for obesity and metabolic disorders as well as gastroesophageal conditions, gallbladder, and abdominal hernias.
- Dr. Shankar pioneered laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (removal of a portion of the stomach) and laparoscopic gastric bypass (creation of a pouch in the stomach) at Singapore General Hospital (SGH) in 2008. Metabolic-Bariatric Surgery Service in the Hospital’s Department of Upper Gastrointestinal and Bariatric Surgery.
