- He is a Consultant Respiratory Physician & Intensivist with The Respiratory Practice.
- Dr Alvin Ng Choon Yong was the President of the Society of Intensive Care Medicine as well as the Vice President of the Singapore Thoracic Society.
- He was also an executive committee member of the Chapter of Intensivist and is currently an executive committee member of the Chapter of Respiratory Physicians, Academy of Medicine Singapore.
- In addition, he had served on various hospitals’ Medical Advisory Board.
- Dr Alvin Ng currently volunteers as the Chief Medical Officer of the St John’s Brigade Singapore Headquarters & has been part of St John Singapore since his secondary school days in Dunman High School.
- Alvin Ng Choon Yong is a member of the Singapore St John Council.
- He was awarded the Singapore Armed Forces Medical Scholarship in 1996 to study Medicine at the National University of Singapore (NUS).
- This scholarship was the only medical scholarship given out in Singapore at that time and only 6 scholarships were given out each year.
- Dr Alvin Ng Choon Yong graduated from NUS in 2001 and went on to train successfully in Internal Medicine and became both a Specialist in Respiratory Medicine and Intensive Care Medicine.
- He has special interests in Obstructive Airway Diseases like Asthma and COPD as well as Invasive Mechanical Ventilation for ICU patients.
