About Dr Whang Hwee Yong
Dr Whang Hwee Yong is a specialist in medical oncology who received his initial training in medical oncology at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London. She subsequently undertook further fellowship training at MD Anderson, Houston. Eventually, he was appointed as an internist/associate professor.
Dr Whang Hwee Yong is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (UK) and a diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine and has also been a member of the American Association of Cancer Research and the American Society of Clinical Oncology since 1977. In 1984, he was elected as a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (ACP) Board and also became a member of the Academy of Medicine of Singapore.
While a faculty member in the Department of Medicine at MD Anderson Cancer Center, Dr. Wang was involved in research programs as principal investigator for Phase I/II developmental therapeutics and other research protocols for the treatment of breast cancer, brain tumors, and the central nervous system. He has more than 60 peer-reviewed publications in the international journal Metastases and has been invited to international meetings. Throughout his tenure at the MD Anderson Cancer Center, his abstracts were selected for oral presentation at both ASCO and AACR meetings.
